Symptoms of convertor failure and pump damage are oscillation in the engine RPM at steady speed. Whining, moaning noise from the pump area. Low line pressure causing slips, flares and delayed reverse.
The 4-5-6 clutch pack is a weak point of the 6L80. High horsepower, heavy towing and hard use frequently damage this clutch resulting in a flare on the 3-4 shift, or loss of power delivery.
A worn pump pressure regulator valve or bore can cause a loss of line pressure control. The result is improper shifts, burned frictions, and broken apply pistons.
Cracked clutch apply pistons or a cracked weld on the 3-5-R drum can leave you with no reverse or worse, stranded on the side of the road. We keep the latest style OEM 3-5-R drum on the shelf for both 6L80 and 6L90 transmissions loaded with all brand new parts.
Our 6L builds dont skimp. Rebuilds receive brand new OEM pump castings when needed, NOT reused poorly machined original pieces like most shops.
Every 6L we do gets a new OEM updated bonded gasket spacer plate, TransGo service shift kit and TransGo TCC apply valves.
Depending on your budget and intended use we offer options of a Billet cover HD replacement converter or a premium OEM style replacement converter.
